Like many young Dutch architects who have either worked for Rem Koolhaas or followed in his footsteps, Winka Dubbeldam situates architecture in a larger context of urbanism, society, and technology. Her inventive and colorful work addresses a variety of scales and programs, and displays a mastery of the latest computer techniques in rendering and animation. The results are beautifully illustrated in this lavishly produced large-format monograph, the first on her work. Winka Dubbeldam, Architect presents an impressive selection of this emerging designer´s built and unbuilt works through photographs, drawings, computer renderings, and full project descriptions. Among the projects included are the Cristinerose Art Gallery in New York City; an urban design for the Mojave Desert; a competition entry for a port terminal in Yokohama; a redevelopment of the souks in Lebanon; and a redesign of the facade and entry for the Art Academy in Rotterdam. An introduction by Michael Speaks and an essay by Dubbeldam accompany the work.
